13AS_ArtSoulInvite02_wm.inddArt and Soul lives at the heart of who we are and why we exist in the first place–to make a difference. In our salons, we do that through our services. In our communities, we do that through being of service. We do this daily through something called Hair Cares NFP, where our stylists donate services daily to those in our community who are in need. And we do this annually through our fundraising events.

The last annual fund-raising event, Art and Soul, was hosted at the iconic venue, Park West. We partnered with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to raise money and awareness to help children and adults living with this lung disease. One of our colorists Erica, and her husband Sam, just had a beautiful little boy named Jameson who was diagnosed with CF.

A few of the highlights of the evening were Art and Soul Runway, which featured editorial hairdressing in “Colour,” “Punk,” and “Alien Couture” themes that gave the audience a glimpse into spring, inspiration from the counter culture, and an elegant journey into the avant-garde. Headlining the musical entertainment was Sony EMI Recording Artist Purple Apple, Columbia Records Recording Artist Wild Belle.

We are so excited to have met our fund raising goal of $15,000 and are honored to have had the opportunity to support Erica’s family as well as all families affected by Cystic Fibrosis. Being there for community members when they need us is what Art and Soul is all about.

Art + Soul 2012:

In 2012, Art+Science debuted its philanthropic wing with Art + Soul at Double Door on November 17th. On that evening, with the help from our silent auction and generous donations, we raised over $12,000 for the National Association for Down Syndrome, a cause near and dear to our hearts. Rounding out the evening were live musical performances from Scott Lucas and the Married Men, Purple Apple and a fashion show from the Art+Science artistic team.
