Upon meeting Chris, you’ll notice her charm from a mile away. It’s hard not to see it with that massive smile and incredibly empathetic manner. It’s telling that if she weren’t a stylist she might have been an occupational therapist. Don’t be fooled though, under that delightful exterior is a quirky personality and fierce talent. While busting out a gorgeous balayage, Chris will happily wax poetic on the various burgers and comfort foods available in the Chicagoland area. And feel free to ask her about her cats, she definitely wants to tell you about them.

When asked what his favorite vacation spot would be, Elvis replied: “anywhere there’s a beach, food, eye candy, and cocktails.” It’s difficult to sum up someone who is able to do it so elegantly. Elvis has always been passionate about education and technical proficiency, but it’s his laid-back, compassionate outlook on life that’s helped him truly soak in the excellence without getting in his own way. When you sit in his chair, not only are you guaranteed a gorgeous balayage, but by the end of the appointment you’ll be laughing out loud and head over heels in love.

Stephanie has been with our Wicker Park location since it opened its doors in 2003 and has since become one of the resident master of the bleach and tone. Her knowledge of hair chemistry and experience as a color educator means she always keeps your hair healthy even when going as blonde as possible. When she isn’t in the salon, she’s hanging out with her little munchkins, Clementine and Hazel, and her husband, Todd.

Susan started her hair career at a very young age and it quickly brought her to Art + Science. Susan is an essential piece of the Art + Science DNA, from her management, to her education, to her leadership as one of the salon’s head colorists. Education is a way of life for Susan, and it’s why she is the Education Director for the salons, always crafting the new generation while always finding new ways to inspire the masters. She looks to build deeper connections with her clients finding new inspiration behind the chair every hour of every day. When she isn’t in the salon, she’s probably on the beach somewhere beautiful or spending time with her family . When you sit in Susan’s chair, you know you’re in the hands of a consummate professional, a technical master, and a good person. It’s difficult to leave without a smile on your face.

You’d be hard pressed to find someone more dedicated to hair education than Christin. While her year is jam packed with clients and teaching our apprentices cutting and blow drying, you’ll have a tough time finding her in February. She might be in Thailand, maybe Vietnam. No haircut is outside her wheelhouse because she’s the kind of stylist who masters every technique she tries.

Tara’s unwavering commitment to her craft & to the relationships she builds at Art & Science have led her to become an indispensable leader in the salon & in the industry. She’s the first to give back to her community, be it by donating her work to support a cause or fostering a four-legged companion from PAWS Chicago that she nurtures and loves. Perhaps it’s the Gemini in her, but Tara isn’t satisfied if she is not learning, which is reflected dedication to advanced education and the willingness to take on every course to continue to elevate her skills. George has the honor of being one of the very first employees of Art + Science. Over the years, he has become an essential part of the Art + Science culture, either due to his thriving business in the Evanston salon, his mentoring of assistants in the men’s cutting program, or his extensive education resume. George has taught cutting classes on almost every continent on Earth with companies ranging from Pivot Point to American Crew, MENSDEPT and, most recently, Reuzel (where he is the head of education). George has been an expert men’s specialist his entire career, though he is just as dedicated to his female clients. He doesn’t just get his inspiration from hairdressing; George’s real full time job is raising his two teenage boys. And, while he doesn’t like the music, he makes sure both Alessandro and Santino are with him every step of the way. Come to George for the incredible cut, stay for the stories. Trust me, he’s got plenty.

Nicky has always been a fan of the finer things in life, not the least of all, your haircut. Nicky joined our barbering team in 2015 and makes sure to bring precision, knowledge, and a little creative kick to every client who sits in his chair. That passion extends beyond the shears. Nicky is known around the salon for his incredible cooking and probably would have been a chef if he wasn’t so dedicated to your hairstyle.
